How to Look 10 Pounds Thinner Instantly

Tip #1: Be Yourself!
The most important thing that you need to know when shopping for clothes is this: Don’t buy something just because it looks good on someone else. Most likely, that person doesn’t have the same body shape that you do and clothes just won’t fit the same on both of you. If you like an outfit on someone else, try it on and get a second opinion before you buy. You want to look comfortable in your clothes and like you belong in them.

Tip #2: Wear Flattering Tops
When deciding on a shirt, jacket or other top, the first thing you need to know is whether you want to accentuate any part of your upper torso or if you’re looking to downplay something, like a large chest. If you’re a top-heavy girl, avoid empire-cut waists and colors and patterns that draw attention to your chest.

Tip #3: Find the Perfect Pants
There are four basic rules for choosing slimming jeans and pants:
1) Ditch the high-waisted jeans or pants. Although they may appear slimming in the front, especially at the waistline, they only serve to make your bottom look twice as big.

Instead, choose pants that sit lower on your hips, but not so low that your love handles are pushed up and out.

2) Tapered or pegged pants make wide hips look even larger, as they create an upside-down triangle from your hips to your feet that accentuates your middle.

The best cut for wide hips is bootcut pants, which have a slight flare at the bottom to balance out your hips and create long, lean, vertical lines.

3) Never wear high waters (pants that are just a few inches too short). The hem of your pants should fall to the bottom of the heel of your shoe.

Tip #4: Choose Slimming Skirts
Choosing the right skirt is very important. The basic rule of thumb for skirts is that the hemline should never stop at the widest part of your leg, which is usually the calf.

Instead, skirts need to fall right above the knee or below the calf, which features the slimmest portion of your leg.

If you choose a skirt with an especially full style, it would be best worn ankle length. Slits in skirts can be especially flattering when placed on the side. This creates fluid movement when walking and makes for a comfortable wear.

But be careful with front or back slits, which can be difficult to walk in and are generally unflattering... unless you have amazing legs.

Tip #5: Practice Better Posture
The best-planned outfits won’t be flattering if you’re hunched over with bad posture.
By squaring your shoulders (pulling them back) and sucking your navel to your backbone (pulling in the stomach) you can instantly look 2-3 inches taller and 10 pounds slimmer.

Building strong abs is the best way to help you pull your belly in all day, and running is just the trick for slimming down and getting a flat stomach. Resistance training is also an important part of your exercise program and can help tone flabby problem areas, especially the arms.

If you’re happy with your size, then show it off with confidence. But if you’re feeling flabby and frumpy, you can’t count solely on great clothes to help you find confidence. Join a gym, consult with a nutritionist, hire a personal trainer, or just get out there and do it yourself. After all, if you lose 10 pounds and use these tricks for how to look 10 pounds thinner in your clothes, you can appear 20 pounds thinner with just half the effort!
